Lot 94:
Description
This collection consists of five pairs of vintage men’s cufflinks dating from approximately the 1950s to the 1970s. The assortment includes a pair of gold-tone oval cufflinks with a textured, linear-engraved surface, presented in a black curved clamshell case with a cream velvet-lined interior. A second pair features silver-tone square frames set with dark burgundy or plum-colored cabochons, likely glass or resin, housed in a red textured case marked Latest Creation with a gold-colored crown symbol on the interior silk. A third pair consists of silver-tone square cufflinks with white enamel faces featuring gold-tone illustrations of vintage automobiles, contained in a clear plastic display case with a white base marked Made in England below a stylized logo resembling a crown or the letter W, attributed to Weber. The loose items include a pair of circular dark gray gunmetal-tone cufflinks with a flat profile and a pair of rectangular gold-tone cufflinks with an incised eight-pointed starburst design. All five pairs are equipped with toggle-back closures. No maker’s marks are visible on the cufflinks themselves. Materials include base metals with various plated finishes, enamel, glass, and resin.
Condition report:
The items are in good vintage condition. Metal surfaces exhibit light wear, minor scratches, and some tarnishing consistent with age and use. All toggle mechanisms are operational, though one toggle on the gold-tone oval pair shows slight misalignment. The presentation boxes show age-related wear to the fabric linings and exterior surfaces.
