Description
This lot consists of two vintage oval cameo brooches. The first brooch features a hand-carved shell cameo depicting a classical female profile facing right with wavy hair, carved in white over a carnelian-colored ground. It is mounted in a silver frame with a rope-twist inner border and a wide, convex polished outer rim. The second brooch features a hand-carved mother-of-pearl cameo depicting a classical female profile facing right with an upswept hairstyle, exhibiting natural iridescence. This cameo is set in a silver frame with a twisted wire border. Both brooches utilize traditional pin stems and hinges for attachment. No maker marks or hallmarks are visible on the pieces.
Condition report:
The shell cameo carving is intact with no visible chips or cracks. The silver frame shows significant patina and tarnish consistent with age. The mother-of-pearl carving is well-preserved, and the silver setting shows moderate tarnish and surface wear.
