Description
A glazed ceramic figurine depicting an adult penguin and a chick standing on an irregular white base modelled to represent snow or ice. The figures are finished in a high-gloss glaze with a traditional black and white palette, accented with bright yellow on the beaks and webbed feet. The larger penguin is modelled with one wing resting behind the smaller penguin as their beaks meet. The form and decoration are consistent with mid-20th-century style decorative animalier ceramics and resemble the Steal Street penguin couple model.
Condition report:
The figurine is in good overall condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, or evidence of repair. Minor shelf wear and light surface dirt are present along the bottom edge of the base.
