Description

This set of six knives features sterling silver handles with metal blades. The handles are decorated in a late Edwardian style with a double-thread border and a ribbed collar. The blades are rounded at the ends and constructed of a base metal or silver plate. Each handle is struck with a series of British hallmarks near the bolster: a lion passant indicating .925 sterling silver, an anchor representing the Birmingham Assay Office, a stylized lowercase m for the year 1911, and the maker mark WD for William Devenport. The knives are presented in a rectangular hinged case with a gray textured exterior, a blue velvet-lined base, and a cream-colored satin-lined lid.

Dimensions: Approximately 6 to 7 inches in length.

Condition report:

The set is in good antique condition. The sterling silver handles show a natural dark tarnish consistent with age. The blades exhibit surface oxidation and minor scratching from use. The presentation case shows staining to the interior satin lining and light wear to the exterior edges.
