Description
An assortment of twenty costume jewelry brooches featuring a variety of mid-to-late 20th-century styles and motifs. The collection includes botanical designs such as leaves and floral sprays, animal motifs including two butterflies and a seated cat, and several geometric or textured circular designs. Materials consist primarily of gold-tone and silver-tone base metals. Decorative accents include multi-colored enamel, clear rhinestones, aurora borealis iridescent rhinestones, white and pink faux pearls, and molded resin components. One rectangular piece features a banded pattern resembling natural agate. Notable items include a large gold-tone butterfly with fine mesh wings, a silver-tone branch brooch set with a large oval cream-colored cabochon and purple rhinestones, and a horizontal gold-tone brooch with blue and purple enameled flowers. Construction utilizes standard costume jewelry techniques with integrated pin stems and safety catches. No maker marks or hallmarks are visible on the pieces.
Condition report:
The collection is in good vintage condition. Visible surface wear and oxidation to the metal finishes are present, along with minor dulling to some stones consistent with age and use. One small rhinestone is missing from the wing of the gold-tone butterfly outline.
